*A Mazzocchio is a circular many-faceted shape, formed and worn as headgear during the Renaissance. The shape was prized by the great Renaissance artist and geometrician Paolo Uccello, who used it to study and to perfect the skill of perspective illusion in art. Uccello is one of Davis's favorite influences; mazzocchio and dodecahedrons show up in much of his work.
